BANKSY, PRECISION BOMBING (GREEN), SPRAY PAINT AND ACRYLIC ON CANVAS, EDITION OF 10, 2000
Precision Bombing (green) is an early original Banksy canvas from 2000. It depicts a group of silhouettes and a sports car in the artist’s iconic spray stencil style, which is being targeted by a green precision gun pointer. The background of this painting is light green, however it was released in a number of colours.
This image could be seen as Banksy’s commentary on war, violence and the surveillance state, as well as the constant sense of paranoia that we can’t trust anyone. Since the men in suits could also be perceived as politicians or the “powerful”, the painting could also point to the dominant hypocrisy prevalent in circles of “Big Money” and the elite.
