Canadian artist Danielle O’Connor Akiyama is best known for her vibrant, luminous floral paintings, which she describes as “sanctuaries for the soul”.
Having studied Arts Therapy, Akiyama cites her understanding of psychology and career as an Arts Therapist as the influence for the style and composition of her inspirational images. Filled with life, energy and colour, Akiyama’s paintings and limited edition prints also show the acute attention to detail and technical skill she gained from studying sumi-e, Japanese ink painting. Her distinctive fusion of Eastern and Western artistry has led to her works being highly prized by art collectors from both sides of the Pacific.
Each Danielle O’Connor Akiyama painting or print contains both her English signature and also her ‘chop’ – the traditional Japanese representational signature.
Danielle’s most notable works include: Beauty Reborn I, Truth Be Told and The Hope Filled Ones.
