An original exquisite masterpiece by Danielle O’Connor Akiyama. The piece, entitled ‘Penguin Song’, was released at the time of Danielle’s ‘illumination’ tour in 2012 and is an original glazed oil on box canvas. The painting has a dedication by Danielle on the back, the wording resonating so perfectly with the theme of the painting...’may the journey forward carry you with passion, joy and inspiration...’.

Forming part of her ‘Birth’ series the painting features Danielle’s famous ‘spirit walkers’ intended to embody truth, history and knowledge. The cataclysmic event in the sky represents ‘birth’ while sweeping circular brush strokes create a juxtaposition of bold colour that radiates outwards. This relates not only to the birth of a child but also anything that’s fundamentally life changing, such as a new relationship or spiritual enlightenment. The fragments on the side represent the portent of new birth. This particular piece is also inspired by her visit to Antarctica at the time and blends the ‘Birth’ symbology with a vision of penguins surfing the waves in on of the remotest part of our planet.

The painting was bought from Whitewall Galleries where the seller enjoyed meeting Danielle and learning more about her fascinating life journey. She was also kind enough to add a dedication on the back, the wording resonating so perfectly with the theme of the painting…’may the journey forward carry you with passion, joy and inspiration…’.
