Showing a bowed figure being cast out, The Wallet Begins To Empty is one of the more striking prints from David Hockney’s 1963 series, A Rake’s Progress. Begun in 1961 shortly after the artist’s first visit to New York it was completed in 1962 and published in 1963 as a portfolio of 16 etchings, each produced in an edition of 50.
