Henderson Cisz is a Brazilian artist known for his inspirational paintings that feature scenes from the world’s most beautiful cities – from London to New York, to Paris and Venice.
Although Cisz’s talent for painting was apparent from an early age he never considered pursuing a career as an artist. Instead, he entered the banking profession and continued to enjoy painting as a hobby. In the 1980s Henderson moved to London in order to study to painting. Here he established his studio and began to create his trademark acrylic, oil and watercolour paintings.
Henderson Cisz’s love of travel has informed his artwork and his paintings and limited edition prints utilise cool, soft tones to convey the atmosphere of each place. As he states, “I love the effect that weather has on the urban landscape and must confess to a particular fondness for the rain! Not only does it cast interesting shadows and reflections on the slick sidewalks, but it also dictates the stance of the figures. Their slightly defensive postures and hunched shoulders lend a very specific, and to my mind curiously engaging, mood to the overall scene.”
Henderson’s most notable works include Beach Chairs (from his series of beach themed paintings), L’Arc de Triomph and The Embankment Polychrome; he regularly exhibits in London galleries and at international art fairs.
