This month Sotheby’s Dubai will be welcoming guests to its Show & Tell event, an exhibition of modern and contemporary art from renowned artists in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The 21 works on display in Sotheby’s Dubai’s first exhibition of the year will include works from very recognisable artists. This will include Robert Indiana’s Love sculpture. The offering from Andy Warhol some experimental drawings: his Dancing Man, an edition of three which are signed and dated by the artist. There will also be Banksy’s squadron of military helicopters, the one leading wrapped in a pink bow (originally painted on a car park wall in Liverpool in 2002) called Happy Choppers. A work from French artist Jean Dubuffet from 1966, Villa III, will also be on display.
Head of Sotheby’s Dubai Katia Nounou Boueiz told Time Out Dubai, “We are starting the new year as we mean to go on, with a curated exhibition that brings something different from our international sales directly to the doorsteps of collectors in Dubai.”
“The view will allow visitors to explore the synergies between these artists, who were working at the same time but in different corners of the globe,” she added.
The works will be on display at Sotheby’s Dubai from 9-13 February. The gallery will be open 10am-7pm daily and admittance is free.
The works will then travel to Sotheby’s London where they will be auctioned as part of their 20th Century Art and Middle East and Contemporary Curated sales in March and April.
