No Reply 2 is signed screen print in colours on wove paper made by the acclaimed American artist and designer, KAWS in 2015. The print comes in an edition size of 100 and depicts an arrangement of shapes in bold and vibrant colours. The shapes appear to be inspired by cartoon imagery, and the viewer can make out a toothy grin and eyeball amongst the seemingly random arrangement.
The print is one of 10 screen prints that form the No Reply collection. The body of prints can be compared to KAWS’ Blame Game collection produced in 2014, which similarly depicts close-up cropped portions of an unknown cartoon character’s face. Both collections use a mixture of bright colours and employ black gestural lines, a signature element of KAWS’ visual language.
No Reply 2 captures KAWS’ distinct artistic style, characterised by an emphasis on colour and distinct set of graphics. This print features KAWS’ iconic crossed out eyes, which the artist frequently incorporates into his artworks. While this collection features unidentifiable cartoon characters, KAWS is well-known for creating a set of stock cartoon characters that re-appear throughout his artworks. Companion, Chum, Bendy and Accomplice were all designed by KAWS and have become synonymous with the artist’s name.
