We are pleased to announce the launch of MyPortfolio. This is the only dedicated print market index in the world, offering unprecedented insight into art market trends for collectors and investors of blue chip prints and multiples. By setting up your personal and private MyPortfolio dashboard, you can track up-to-the-minute value growth of artworks you own, and trade among our growing network of collectors and investors. This is blue chip art market transparency like you've never seen before.
Whether you are a buyer or seller of blue chip art, MyPortfolio provides a bespoke experience to manage your personal collection. In this article, find out how to use MyPortfolio, the features of the product, and how they can benefit you when collecting and investing in art, the top-performing alternative asset class.
MyPortfolio is an online art collection management tool. This free platform puts control directly into the collector's hands, equipping them with the data and bespoke industry recommendations to become informed decision-makers. With unlimited access to our private network of over 30,000 collectors and industry-defining data, we challenge the traditionally opaque nature of the art market and place autonomy firmly with our collectors. By using MyPortfolio, you afford yourself the opportunity to buy and sell among our network, with a personalised experience and data at your fingertips - which is always on and free of charge: zero obligation.
Powered by data which MyArtBroker have collected since 2010, across auction house results and private sale records, the platform offers a unique insight into the growth rate of specific blue chip artist markets and individual artworks listed on our site. By taking into account both historic auction sales and private sales and valuations within our network, our index is completely unique, and better positioned to inform your investment in editioned art than any other. Because the prints and multiples market is a comparable market, this approach is the perfect fit. Data from one print from an edition will be highly indicative for all the works from that edition, and the same is true of artist proofs, trial proofs and so on.
Our print market index - the only one of its kind - analyses over 30,000 auction histories and our own private sales data across 3,500 artworks spanning 30 years. This market value index uses a Repeat Sales Regression (RSR) approach, fuelled by curated artist and artwork data. Using the sale price of individual prints, our algorithm estimates the fluctuations in value of an average representative print over a unique period of time. By tracking your blue art collection in real time, MyPortfolio offers personalisation, access, control and transparency like no other collection management tool and art database in the world.
MyPortfolio is completely free to use. Setting up an account takes less than 30 seconds and once your profile is created you can add your existing collection (if you have one), browse for artworks that interest you, manage valuations and access the only bespoke art market index for Modern and Contemporary prints and multiples.
Here is a step-by-step guide to create your MyPortfolio dashboard:
Provide your first name, second name, email address and phone number. After creating your password, select ‘Sign Up’ and wait for an SMS with a one-use security code to be sent to your phone number. The privacy of your information is our top priority. With MyPortfolio, all information is held safe and securely. All data is encrypted with two-factor authentication as standard - every time you login to your dashboard.
Browse by artist, notable collections and genres from our home page. Alternatively, visit our Trading Floor and filter by artist or artwork to view what's currently for sale, what's in demand, and what's in our network in real time.
Once you find an artwork you are interested in, select ‘Add to MyPortfolio’. A pop-up window will appear, asking you to confirm why you want to track this specific artwork. Choose between three options:
After selecting one of these options, click ‘Finish Adding to MyPortfolio’ and the artwork will appear in your personal dashboard.
Once you have added an artwork to your MyPortfolio dashboard, you can track, request valuations and keep on top of your collection all in one place. At the top of your dashboard you can see: the number of artworks in your collection, the estimated total value of owned works, the five-year Average Annual Growth Rate (AAGR) of your entire collection, and the percentage change in the total value of your collection since original purchase price.
When you scroll down to the artworks on your dashboard, you will see the estimated market value of the specific artwork, its AAGR, and a ‘Calculate’ button. After clicking on this, you can enter the price at which you purchased the artwork and the date of purchase. After updating, our algorithm will calculate the value growth percentage since purchase - giving you a unique insight into the fluctuations in value since owning the piece.
Once you have artworks in your MyPortfolio dashboard, you can click to ‘View’ individual artworks you want to buy, want to sell, or are simply interested in. Here you can track the value of the artwork over a 12 month, 5-year, or total period. By hovering over the data points on this value-tracking graph, you can view individual sales of the work with indication of the last hammer price, the price paid by the buyer, and the estimated return to the seller (minus the auction seller's commission and additional service fees).
As you add more artworks to your dashboard and calculate value growth, your overall portfolio AAGR and growth percentage with change to reflect each and every artwork in your collection. With MyPortfolio, you can see exactly which artworks are performing well, are in demand, and are showing positive value growth: all in one place, in real time, and completely free of charge.
Even if you are just starting your art collecting journey, MyPortfolio is an expedient tool to gain insight and see where opportunity lies in the art market at any given time.
If you're looking to start your blue chip art collection or add new works to an existing portfolio, follow these steps:
To view the works currently for sale from our private network, head to the Trading Floor. Filter by artist name or artwork title, and select the ‘For Sale’ button at the top of the floor to view real time supply. From here, you can either select ‘Enquire to Buy’ in order to be contacted by our team or click on the artwork and add it to your MyPortfolio dashboard.
If the artwork you want isn't currently owned by anyone in our network, you can still add it to your Watch List and we will work to source it for you.
Once you have added the artwork you want to buy to your Watch List, you can view it at the bottom of your MyPortfolio dashboard. Underneath the image of the artwork and details about the title, artist, and price estimate is a growth indicator which shows the AAGR percentage over a 5-year period.
If you select ‘View’, you will be taken to the page for the individual artwork. Here you can track the value of the artwork over a 12 month, 5-year, or total period.
Equipped with all the information about the growth rate of the artist you're interested in, take the next step and enquire to buy. You will then be connected with a specialist broker who handles offers alongside you, offering simple and unbiased information to decision makers. From here, we make it simple: covering the logistics, the shipping, and the conservation. Starting and growing a blue chip art collection has never been easier and more accessible.
Whether you want to realise liquidity or raise funds to buy other luxury collectible assets, MyPortfolio can inform your decision when choosing the best time to sell. We offer 0% seller's fees as standard, and market your artworks to our burgeoning network of over 30,000 collectors.
If you're looking to sell artworks - or simply want a zero obligation valuation - follow these steps:
We post the live supply and demand from our network directly onto our Trading Floor. You can filter by the artist and artwork title you want to sell, and select the ‘Wanted’ button at the top of the floor to view real time demand. From here, you can either select ‘Enquire to Sell’ to receive a free no-obligation valuation, or click on the artwork and add it to your MyPortfolio dashboard.
Even if you are not looking to sell straight away, MyPortfolio can help approximate the current value of your artwork. You can then make the most informed decisions when you come to sell, maximising the return on your initial investment.
You can request a free zero-obligation valuation any time. It takes less than two minutes to submit a valuation request; all you need to provide is the location of the artwork, whether or not you are in possession of a certificate of authenticity, and how quickly you want to sell. You will then be contacted by a specialist broker who will provide you with an expert valuation.
If you choose to sell with MyArtBroker, you will be connected with a specialist broker who will facilitate the sale. With 0% sellers fees, we are able to offer a nothing-to-lose approach and, 9 times out of 10, we can get you a better deal than anywhere else in the market. With an Option to Purchase contract and on NET price returned, your broker will handle all offers alongside you and carry out the sale from beginning to end.
After finalising an offer with your broker which is accepted by a buyer, we handle the entire process for you. From framing, conservation, restoration, logistics, and shipping, we remove the labour from your sale. This way, you enjoy the financial rewards of the sale without dealing with the practicalities along the way. We don't charge hefty fees because we don't have to. With MyPortfolio, it is easier than ever before to sell your blue chip artworks - at the right time and for the right price for you.
The beauty of selling through MyArtBroker, with MyPortfolio and a specialist broker by your side, is that you can wait for the right time to sell and minimise the risks traditionally associated with the secondary art market. The unsold rate at auction currently stands at 34%, and the failure to sell an artwork via public auction is value suicide. We don't ‘burn’ your artwork and we don't say ‘we'll wait to see what happens on the night’. You can calculate your exact return ahead of decision making: something you can't do at auction, and something which will allow you to maximise return and get the best deal possible.
We offer a white glove blue chip service, with industry-defining technology. This is a completely personalised experience, making the process of buying and selling art more enjoyable and lucrative than ever before. We invite you into our global network of collectors - free of charge - with an unprecedented indication of supply, demand, and value growth. Indeed, this is blue chip art market transparency and access like you've never seen before.
