Kiera Gets Undressed, a lambda print on lenticular acrylic panel, was released in an edition of 25 in 2014 by British artist Julian Opie. The protagonist, Kiera, is nude, with the shadow of underwear visible. The use of thick black lines to outline the figure is typical of Opie’s work, becoming a stylistic trademark for the artist.
Opie’s work is an essay on the magic of perception and mystery of other people, as they remain unknowable with just a circle representing the face, all other identifiable features omitted. Additionally, in a blend of Pop Art and Minimalism, Opie’s abstract, flattened style seems in the first instance distant and cold.
