Walk (yellow) is a screen print released in 2012 as a signed edition of 5. Printed in white, yellow and black, this work portrays a stick figure suspended between stillness and movement, gazing ahead to the future.
The piece is both a tribute to the forward movement of Stik's career and a demonstration of how movement influences the act of seeing. There is a certain absurdity in the picture, perhaps, in that the stickman is not clearly walking; there is just the faintest sense of movement. The most tangible evidence of motion is the figure's unequivocal glance to the left, which forecasts the figure's forward progress.
Walk is an inquiry into the fleeting quality of vision and the movement inherent in perception, especially in relation to the urban environment, in which street art is observed in movement.
