Schalkx Conservation Ltd

Maartje Schalkx specialises in the conservation and restoration of works of art on paper. She received a BA in Fine Art from the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and, graduated with Distinction from the MA in Conservation at Camberwell College in London. She has over a decade of experience working with private collectors, galleries, art dealers, artists, framers and public institutions, as well as individuals with one-off pieces that require care. For the past eight years she has been one half of Foley Schalkx Conservation Ltd, a successful conservation practice in London.

Clients she has worked for include: Gagosian Gallery, Pest Control, Serpentine Gallery, Victoria Miro, Wellcome Collection, Whitechapel Gallery and White Cube. Originally from the Netherlands, she has lived in the UK for over 20 years, largely in Glasgow and London. She has now settled in Liverpool. Her studio, in the historic Bluecoat building, aims to cover conservation needs across the North.
