Meaning & Analysis
Yellow Crocodile is a 2014 screenprint by Thierry Noir, renowned for his iconic Berlin Wall paintings. This artwork features a stylised, brightly coloured crocodile, exemplifying Noir’s signature use of bold lines and vibrant hues.
This screenprint captures a playful yet striking crocodile, echoing the artist’s early works on the Berlin Wall. Noir’s technique, which includes a flat application of colour and abstracted forms, has roots in his desire to make art accessible and engaging. The artwork’s simplicity belies its deeper commentary on freedom and expression, themes prevalent in Noir’s oeuvre. Limited to just 25 editions, this piece is not only a testament to Noir’s enduring influence in contemporary art but also a sought-after collector’s item.
