This poignantly romantic print captures one of Tracey Emin’s works from her Neons collection. The text, from which the work takes its title, is executed in Emin’s distinctive handwriting with blue neon lights. Framed by an illuminated red love heart, the work is typical of Emin’s exploration of intimacy and relationships. Set against a black background to best show the glow of the neon lights, Emin’s signature and a kiss appear faintly in white beneath the neon work.
Poetic and personal, The Kiss Was Beautiful is a romantic work about reminiscing intimate moments between lovers. Like many of Emin’s other works in our Neons collection, the work captures these amorous words in Emin’s distinctive handwriting. Contained within a red illuminated love heart, the work has a romantic overtone that speaks to a universal audience about remembering cherished moments of intimacy. The kiss Emin writes beneath her signature at the bottom of the print signals her sense of familiarity with her viewers and collectors, as she plays with the universal desire to love and be loved.
